Amazon CloudWatch

AWS-native monitoring. Functional, not elegant.

CloudWatch is the default monitoring for AWS services. Logs, metrics, alarms, and dashboards — all integrated natively. The querying is clunky compared to Datadog or Grafana, but it works without additional infrastructure.

For AWS-heavy environments, CloudWatch avoids the cost and complexity of a separate observability stack. The Logs Insights query language handles most troubleshooting needs. Accept the UI limitations and invest in good alarm configuration.
